Mastering is the last creative step you need to take before reproduction and or distribution.
While preparing the music for its final destination, whether it be a physical or digital format,
tonal balance, dynamics , depth, width and level are the keys to make the songs translate well to other systems and listening enviroments.
Mastertone uses carefully selected tools to make this happen.
Preparing for mastering
Let the mixes breath a bit, please leave some headroom.
Did you mix with mixbuss compression?
Did you use it for color? Leave it on!
Did you plug it for volume? Turn it off!
Limiters? No please, Turn it off!
Sample rate -
Just send it in whatever rate its been recorded at. 44.1 - 192 khz
Bit rate -
16, 24 or 32 bit floating point - prefably 24 or 32.
Format -
Wave, aiff or CD-R - I prefere CD-DATA, but you can also send cd-audio (not recommended, but if its all you have..)
Digital delivery -
Before uploading please Zip or Winrar your files for higher reliability and faster transfer.
These programs use built in checksum wich assures data integrity and eliminates the risk of corrupted audio.
Take some time to label your files before delivery. If possible please include album order in the file title with a simple prefix, for example: 01_songname1.wav, 02_songname2.wav, 03_songname3.wav
and so on...
